Ainius Staneika / RUINATION (LT)
 RUINATION roots descend down to late Fall in 1992 and after long 16 years on heavy scene is seen as one of the most famous and oldest playing Lithuanian metal bands. For several months band's guitarist, Ainius, support our company playing customized Regius 6 Gothic. |
Their first demo tape release was issued via local underground label DANGUS PRODUCTIONS in summer 1995 and became one of the most successful releases for the label. To record the debut, in 1995 Ruination took a ferry across the Baltic Sea to Sweden and went to ABYSS studio (HYPOCRISY/PAIN mastermind PETER TAGTGREN 's property) when they recorded 15 tracks for their debut album. The LP 'Visionary Breed' was released in early 1998 by a Spanish label GOLDTRACK RECORDS. Meanwhile the formation tours a lot, giving numerous shows around Lithuania and Latvia. At the time Ruination was also participating at their very first significant gig supporting DEICIDE in Vilnius, Lithuania.
In May 1999 Ruination returns back home from Sweden with their second album "XURA" recorded. Afterwards the band went on European tour and played in Wroclaw, Poland (with local bands ELYSIUM and ASGAARD), Grosreshen, Germany (with locals POSTMORTEM and SLEEPING GODS) and Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg (with native DESDEMONIA and mighty APOCALYPTICA from Finland). In 2000 Ruination supported APOCALYPTICA again, this time in front of 4000 people crowd in capital city of Lithuania and played before legendary THERION in Latvia.
The band restlessly played live in Lithuania and abroad until they got an invitation to support ALICE COOPER in Lithuania. A new mini-album "DRIVE TO LIVE" was recorded in a local Lithuanian studio to celebrate band's 10th Anniversary.
The calendar in 2004 is full with concerts once more, lots of gigs in main cities of Lithuania, Ruination also reaches the right potential level for their third full length album named BEYOND, recorded in band's own studio in 2004-2005. This album was rated very good by critics, melomans and the musicians themselves not only as one of the best heavy music albums in Lithuania, but also one of the best quality album and the most interesting Ruination album in band's discography so far capable of representing Lithuanian heavy music for the whole world. The band remains faithful to the heavy scene and has enough fuel to blow Your brains out!
Recently, after several lineup changes Ruination's style turned to more progressive and technical approach. At the moment the band has a lot of work on new compositions – an interesting and heavy new material for new album with a line of new gigs.
For several months Ainius, band's guitarist, supports our company playing customized Regius 6. His Regius was delivered with astonishing Ash top with Gothic matt finish, Ebony fretboard adorned with Skull inlay and RUIN inscription at 12th fret pole, powered with two active EMG 81 + 85 pickups. Here in Mayo, every guitar player has its own story about his axe. Here's the story of Ainius...
One of my friends told me about Mayones guitars he was thinking of getting one. He praised the quality of craftsmanship and the excellent sound of the hand made instruments Polish Mayo luthiers were making. I got back to my computer, browsed Mayones website and decided to give it a try, but not with the regular guitars – I thought I’ll get mine one one, built to my taste. I got in touch with Mayones Marketing Team who briefly explained me everything and I started my brainstorming about what I want and what I need… After discussing the features, customisations and hardware for my guitar I wasn’t really calm. A Mayones custom shop Regius? I always was a fan of Les Paul kind of electric guitars and I already had a few of them in my collection, they all were looking good and sounded OK but there was a lack of something that would make the sound and feel truly amazing. I was just betting on my luck to get my first non LP guitar that could deliver me my dream sound.
It was very nice to get some photos to my email with my guitar at the manufacturing stage. I saw the real wood, the fretboard, I saw the holes made for the machine heads… It was like seeing my baby being born. I couldn’t wait to touch it and to play it. When the UPS guy called me and asked when to deliver my package. I thought that it can’t really be my guitar, I thought it’s too early, I wasn’t really ready emotionally to get it now. A couple of hours and I was opening the well packed guitar package.

It’s not the same a opening an envelope with some bill or mail, it’s something I was opening for the first time and for the last time in my life – you can’t open the same guitar package twice, hehe. So, I had it in my hands. I was closely examining every centimeter of my guitar. I enjoyed the feeling of touching the guitar. The quality was just superb, I call myself a picky buyer, I almost always find something, but not this time. The neck was just perfect to my hand, it felt very comfortable. The weight of the guitar was just right too. The black matt finished Ash top impressed me as well, the luthiers made their job, I thought. Deciding only by the look of the guitar - it was already fitting my guitar collection as the best exhibit. But the look was just a part of the story. It was time to plug it into my Engl Special Edition EL34 amp.
I was truly blown up by the heaviness and power of my riffs, by the punchy crunch and crystal clear cleans. The solos were simply screaming! I turned my rack gear on to hear it with the effects – it was that sound I was always searching for and dreaming about, it was that tone, it was that feeling, it was that Mayones custom shop Regius that makes me happy not only every time I play it, but also by simply knowing that I have it! I don’t play my other guitars now, I just can’t imagine myself without that Mayo tone that I’m already used to. Every rehearsal and live show is a true pleasure to play now! |
