“They say every night has it’s dawn, we say night is the new day!”
Katatonia, the Swedish masters of melancholy, returned with the long awaited follow-up of the groundbreaking album "The Great Cold Distance"! Their latest opus "Night Is The New Day" is finally at your reach!
An extension of the heaviness, depth and atmosphere featured on their previous outing, "Night Is the New Day" is also a more eclectic effort - moving between prog grandeur, ambient melancholy, folk delicacy and the classic melodic anthems that are the staple of Katatonia's uncompromising sound, completed by the haunting tones of Jonas Renkse's vocal journeys of urban & emotional decay.
Cover art once again comes courtesy of Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth, Novembre) & continues the stylistic identity established so effectively since "The Great Cold Distance".
However, after the premier of the new album, some unexpected and unwanted line-up changes appeared - brothers Fredrik and Mattias Norman left the band for the personal reasons... Despite this unpleasant and hard situation the leader of Katatonia, Anders 'Blakkheim' Nyström, quickly found the replacing musicians so the planned touring schedule remains safe and secure. The new players are Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson on guitar (plays with Blakkheim in extreme metal band, Bloodbath) and Niklas ‘Nille’ Sandin.
We're happy announce that all the axe men for Katatonia will use Mayones instruments! After the short discussions about the specs we prepare new Setius guitars for Anders and Per to complete their arsenal for both bands, and Jabba Special for the new May-family member, Nille.
More info about the axes coming soon, meanwhile visit the official Katatonia website www.katatonia.com and read more about the tour schedule and the line-up changes.
