We are getting ready to celebrate the Polish Independence Day! The "Rock Niepodległości" Project has been launched a month before the 11th of November in order to promote a new, more joyful way for the young people to celebrate the anniversary. The name "Rock Niepodległości" is a play on words - in Polish the words rock and rok (a year) are pronounced in the same way.
National Independence Day (Polish: Narodowe Święto Niepodległości) is a public holiday in Poland celebrated every year on 11 November to commemorate the anniversary of Poland's assumption of independent statehood in 1918 after 123 years of partitions by Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Russia. The foundation of the Second Polish Republic is considered a key event by many Poles.
The upcoming Independence Day gave us the idea to build a limited series of guitars - Setius Rock Niepodległości. The instrument is marked by a blood-red top made of flamed maple with a stylized white eagle wearing a crown (the Polish coat of arms) and with the Rock Niepodległości logo. Only three units of this model were made. One of them will be displayed in Rock Cafe Warsaw.
"Hard Rock Cafe is known for collecting unique rock memorabilia. We are happy that the Rock Niepodległości guitar will find its place among them. We are visited by many young people, to whom the project is directed to. We are proud to take part in it. We consider it an important social initiative" - says Zosia Kopczyńska of Hard Rock Cafe Warsaw.
Rock Niepodległości is a social initiative aiming to commemorate the Independence Day and to promote the celebration of this day among young people. The idea is to celebrate this day in a way which young people would find more attractive. A Rock Niepodległości Concert will be held on the 11th of November in Warsaw's Palladium Club. It will include performances by Sebastian Riedel and Cree, the Rock & Chopin Project and a debuting band Magnetar, who have recorded a patriotic song "Vivat Biało-Czerwoni" especially for the occasion.
The Rock Niepodległości Project also includes a conference which will present the outcome of a civil study which was conducted for the occasion. It was conducted in cooperation with the Gemius Institute and the scientists from the Warsaw School of Economics.
