Hesperus Dimension is a Polish metal project, started in the year 2000. Apart from Nahald(vox) and Czarny(guitars), who constitute the base, the band's artistic output is contributed to by many musicians, like Faust (ex-Emperor, Thorns), Bakis (Pagan Forest), and sax player Herbi... The band's newest album, "The Cyclothymic Panopticon", recorded exclusively with a Setius 7 GTM Gothic, will be released in only a few months.
Hesperus Dimension was founded in 2000, when the singer, Nahald, and the guitar player, Czarny, decided to form a project which would bring an entirely new quality to the metal scene. The duo further known as Hesperus Dimension backed by bass player Zvierzak (Blindead) releases their debut mini album „Mental Electricity” (2005), in which many musicians, for example Faust (ex-Emperor, Thorns), Raaf (Mess Age) or actor Sasza Janowicz, have made their guest appearances.
The presented material was critically acclaimed both by Polish and foreign press. Thanks to intensive promotion among western publishers, one year later a Spanish label GOIMUSIC RECORDS released mcd "Mental Electricity" as a split with MALIGNANT INCEPTION (USA).
Meanwhile, Zvierzak left Hesperus Dimension and was replaced by Maryś, well known for his bass work for (among others) Dead By Dawn, Mess Age or eM. With the new line-up, the band prepared their next release, again with many guest appearances: apart from Sasza Janowicz, vocals have also been recorded by Bakis (Pagan Forest). Another contribution to the album was made by sax player Herbi (ex-Orange Train).
In June 2007 the label DIACHELL MUSIK (Olsztyn, Poland) signed a deal with the band in order to release an exclusive version of "Mental Electricity MMVII". Apart from the mcd's original material, it also included songs which were not released previously. Moreover the album received a new cover graphics. The release of the bands newest creation, The Cyclothymic Panopticon, on a British label SERPENE HELI MUSIC, will take place on January 15 2008, simultaneously in Europe, Asia and America.
Hesperus Dimension mixes influences from different areas of extreme music, industrial music and jazz stylistics. Their music, full of mechanical sounds and wild guitar ferocity, creates dark, cold and cybernetic atmosphere. Uneasy music reminds of the hellish vision of dehumanized, computerized future, not unlike the legendary movie Blade Runner - this is exactly the Hesperus Dimension.
This is how Czarny describes his new Setius:
The Beauty
When I learned that my „Setius is ready”, I instantly ran to get my new toy. I had had a chance to test this type of axe earlier, so I already knew it would be perfect for me. When I opened the case, I couldn't believe my own eyes. The instrument is beautiful: the details well taken care of, the silhouette sexy, proportions and ergonomics top notch. The profiled ash top finished in black gothic makes a great impression.
The body and the neck are made of mahogany with black matte finish. The colour and the natural grain of the wood looks really good and makes you want to grab and play it. The rosewood fingerboard, well matching the instrument, adds to the general looks. Despite the docile shape, it really has the devils talon. Just what I expect of an instrument..
... and the Beast
The guitar sounds very strong, even unplugged. It resonates well, thanks to correct pairing of the neck and body woods. This invites to plug the instrument in. This is when the guitar reveals its power. I use Seymour Duncan Distortion pickup at the bridge and a Jazz at the neck. With that pickup combo and the added massivness of mahogany, the Setius works like an earthquake. The strong, full sound is ideal for heavy playing. It sounds agressively, which works for industrial-synthetic compositions of Hesperus Dimension.
When I ordered a seven-stringer I had my doubts regarding my ability to cope with the extra string, since this was supposed to be my first one. After only a few minutes I stopped worrying, because I felt like I had it for years. The neck profile lets it fit in my hand without any problems. It is easy to play and the sound is clear in all registers and sustains beautifully.
I played Mayones instruments earlier and I notice a great deal of development. The company has made a huge leap forward and my instrument is a professional, world-class guitar. I'm also glad that it's a Polish company and from Gdańsk at that! My newborn beast has service and care close to it.
