HE CAME FROM THE SUN, ex-AXAMENTA (BE)
Derived from the fantasy world of dragons and magic, about 3 years ago Belgian AXAMENTA decided to make a radical shift in their musical style and began working towards a more technical and progressive approach. Their love for movie scores also made them replace the keyboards by orchestra samples, which gives them a unique sound in the Belgian scene. Ladies and Gentlemen: let's welcome Axamenta in May-players family!
In May 2005, AXAMENTA entered the JACOB HANSEN STUDIO to record their next full CD, named “EVER-ARCH-I-TECH-TURE”. The mixing and mastering was done by Fredrick Nordström at the FREDMAN STUDIO and Göran Finnberg at THE MASTERING ROOM. The album takes you on a journey through the meticulously worked out concept story. In 13 tracks, AXAMENTA brings you a mixture of bombastic orchestra-guided opuses, heavily grooving Swedish-like prog songs and even a ballad song which is enlightened by the guest vocals of the Swedish prog-icon DANIEL GILDENLÖW from PAIN OF SALVATION, who recorded all the vocals for this song!
In May 2006, AXAMENTA brought their madness to the masses in cooperation with the Belgian label SHIVER RECORDS! Enthusiastic reviews across the European music press and thousands of devoted fans does it - Axamenta was invited as a headliner at "Metaldome" scene at one of the biggest European metal festival - Graspop Metal Meeting 2006! The formation also shared the stages with icons of the metal scene - Vader, Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. And if it is not enough - the latest album immediately hit the 4th place of LSP Top 50 (top 50 of best selling albums in all the Metalzoneshops), just behind Slayer, Lacuna Coil and Iron Maiden.
Therefore when the group contacted our company, we welcomed the band with opened arms and after few weeks of intensive discussions the band decided to go for a full endorsement with Mayones. First order consisted of 3 custom made instruments for band's axemen: Ian, Sven and Jeroen - two Regius 7 models and one Victorious 5 Custom Bass.
For band's low-tuned axeman, Jeroen, one of our Custom Basses was made - 5 stringed Victorious with Bodo top in matt finish, standard 9 pieces Maple/Mahogany neck with Ebony fretboard decorated with musician's name in... Chinese! To complete the look we placed Q-Parts Acrylic Tortoise knobs at the control pots. The bass is powered with Bartolini humbuckers and Aguilar OBP-3 on-board electronics.
"I first heard of Mayones about 4 years ago and as a guitarplayer I was really impressed by the looks and the sound of their Regius guitars." - tells his story Jeroen - "When I switched to the bass guitar a few years later, I was searching for a decent instrument which combined the looks, the abilities and the playing skills of a first class instrument. I totally found what I was looking for in Mayones Victorious 5-string."
"The killer looks and the ultra fine active Bartolini's are making it possible to throw yourself into any style of music, just a few twists on the knobs and your sound will change from smooth jazz to frostbitten black metal."
The neck gives me the feeling i'm getting a third arm every time i hang this axe around me and the finish is just incredible, every single detail is simply perfect. I think the only one who has complains about my Victorious is my neighbour so he won't be glad to hear I'm getting a second 5-string soon 'cause I'll be a May-player until the end of days!"
Axamenta is preparing to record the follow-up of "EVER-ARCH-I-TECH-TURE" so get yourselves ready for there will be no mercy...
