DE PROFUNDIS (UK)
To date, De Profundis has performed to thousands of fans across 22 countries, taking part in three international tours and several major music festivals worldwide. The band has had the honour of supporting Iron Maiden, as well co-headlining a festival in front of 30,000.
With two critically-acclaimed full-length albums ("Beyond Redemption" - 2007 - (Self-release/Sony Music) and 2010's "A Bleak Reflection" -2010 - (Kolony Records/Sony Music) under their belt, De Profundis looks set for big things.
The band's unique sound takes influence from not only many of the sub-genres of heavy metal - spanning across death, black, doom and classic heavy metal - but also from progressive rock and jazz.
De Profundis was formed in November 2005, with the band's debut album “Beyond Redemption” being released in August 2007. Six months after playing their first show in September 2007, De Profundis was voted the 6th Best Unsigned Band in the 2007 Terrorizer Readers' Poll.
In February 2009, De Profundis supported Iron Maiden at the Rock in India Festival in Bangalore, India in front of 20,000 people. On the back of this performance, Sony Music gave the band a record deal to release their debut album "Beyond Redemption" in India.
Following the European release of album "A Bleak Reflection" on Kolony Records in February 2010, De Profundis officially launched the new album with a show at the Underworld, London. Later that year the band signed with Relapse Records for exclusive distribution in USA and Canada.
After the success of the band’s first album, Sony Music released “A Bleak Reflection” in India in June 2010. With the support of the British Council, De Profundis returned to India on a headlining tour in October 2010, which included co-headlining Kingfisher’s Octoberfest 2010 in Bangalore in front of 30,000 alongside Lacuna Coil.
In April / May 2011, De Profundis went on a 14-date European tour with Rotting Christ (Greece) and Omnium Gatherum (Finland), performing in 11 countries across Central and Eastern Europe.
Now armed with their custom Mayones instruments, the band is currently working on its third album, due to be recorded in late 2011.
The Mayones Regius guitar for Shoi Sen, the guitar player for De Profundis, is based on a Mahogany body with Flamed Maple top in Transparent Dirty Red Gloss finish attached to 11-ply Maple-Mahogany-Amazakoe-Wenge neck with an Ebony fretboard, additionally adorned with position markers in Bengali. The guitar is powered with Bare Knuckle pickups controlled with Volume and Tone knobs in custom positions.

My Regius 6 feels and sounds amazing. I have played a lot of guitars over the years and none of them have had the sustain that this guitar has. The feel of the neck is perfect for playing fast and heavy parts, but it is equally responsive to blues and jazz phrasing.
I am really thankful to Mayones for having us in their roster, where some of my favourite guitarists like Greg Mackintosh have found their joy. The custom inlay on my guitar is in Bengali script, which is my mother tongue. It spells "Ariyan" - the name of my son who was born around the time we signed the contract with Mayones. On the 12th fret the two symbols are the number 12 in Bengali.
With De Profundis now gearing up to record its third album, I can’t wait to take this beast into the studio and then on the road. A big thank you to our friends at Mayones for all their hard work!
