TO CAST A SHADOW (NO)

To Cast a Shadow is a Norwegian Doom/Goth metal band that was started in 2005. In 2007 they released their debut album called "All Alone". This was a self-financed album, released on Pretty Dark Music, and distributed by Indie Distribution in Norway and Plastichead in Europe. The album was recorded at Hamar Recordings and mixed in Sweden by Leon Music. The artwork was made by Darkwaveart (My Dying Bride, Peaceville) in England, and Darkwaveart will also create the new artwork for their second album. The album sold very well for a new, up and coming band, and received lots of good reviews all over Europe.

 

 

In 2009, Innovation Music Network chose To Cast a Shadow as 1 of 6 bands that would get 1 year of assistance from the pro 's in the music industry to improve the quality of the band. This meant that the could now work with Kenneth Lewis from Waterfall, Simon Fullemann, (MetalBlade) , Dan Swano (Katatonia, Opeth, Theatre of Tragedy), Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah) etc, and learn from the best. 2009 also brought fourth Gunnhild Huser as the new lead singer of the band, and has helped to create a new and very exciting sound for the future.

The band has now recorded their second album, and it has been mixed and mastered by the very talented Rikard Lofgren at Leon Music. The album has not yet been given a release date, but we should expect it at the beginning of 2011.

The guitarist Marcus Granlien chose to order a custom made Mayones Setius in Graphite burst gloss, with Sperzel locking tuners, DiMarzio Breed and Dimarzio Liquifire and the TCAS logo engraved in the maple top, giving it a spectacular look.

I became very interested in these guitars after seeing Paradise Lost use them live. I got in contact with the very friendly and talented guys at Mayones, and started to discuss how we could create something special for me and To Cast a Shadow. The result is a fantastic guitar that went beyond my expectations. I have a pretty good guitar collection, but this is truly something else.

The mahogany and the maple top gives it an incredible warmth, and when combined with the Dimarzio humbuckers it just screams when I want it to! The neck is fast and easy to play, and this guitar is now basically everything I need to get that unique TCAS sound I have always wanted. Thank you, Mayones for making this amazing instrument. I am very proud to say that I endorse Mayones Guitars.
