STREAM OF PASSION (NL)

Following the release of their debut album "Embrace the Storm" in 2005, Stream of Passion immediately gained the attention of female- fronted metal fans all over the globe with their unique sound. In 2008, after various European tours and festival appearances, plus the release of the live DVD "Live in the Real World" and several singles/video clips, Stream of Passion realized it was time to start working on their next album, which would open a new chapter in the band's history.

Led by the voice and violin of Mexican-born Marcela Bovio, the new band line-up consists of talented and passionate Dutch musicians Johan van Stratum (bass guitar), Martijn Peters (drums), Jeffrey Revet (keyboards), Eric Hazebroek (guitars) and Stephan Schultz (lead guitar).

The new line-up and interaction between the band members has definitely influenced the band's sound. Marcela explains: "Circumstances were different this time; we all live closer to each other now, so we could just get together and work on the songs face to face whenever we wanted to. We soon knew exactly the direction we wanted to take."

With new songs, an energetic live performance, and a record deal with Napalm Records, Stream of Passion is confident that they will once again take the gothic metal scene by storm. On the new album "The Flame Within", the listener can brace for more live oriented songs with heavy guitars, raging pianos, haunting string arrangements, and the unique, mysterious melodies and vocals provided by Marcela Bovio.

"Our plan was no other than to give everything we have, to implement all of our energy and passion into each one of these songs. And we've definitely achieved it... Get ready to experience our inner fire!"

Stream Of Passion guitarists, Stephan and Eric, are bound to our company on the endorsement basis using several Mayones instruments. Eric plays his Regius 7 and Setius  GTM 7 models for almost 3 years now and Stephan, our new May-player, uses two Setius guitars: GTM 7 and PRO 6 with Fernandes Sustainer system.

One week prior to recording the guitars for our second studio-album (the first since I’ve joined the band) I decided that my old (Ibanez) 7- string wasn’t going to cut it…

I needed a fat sounding axe that’s easy to tune, has good intonation and perfect action! My friend and fellow Stream of Passion guitarist (Eric Hazebroek) already owns 2 Mayones guitars and I have been really impressed by them since I first heard and played them. That’s why I knew I needed to get myself a Mayo!!!

I got in contact with the nice people at Mayones and told them I needed a Mayones Setius GTM 7 this week to record with in the studio! If that wasn’t enough I asked if they could set it up with my string gauche and action preferences…

This wasn’t a problem for the nice guys at Mayones and 6 days later I was giving my signature to the UPS guy. I knew I was in for a treat when I opened my case but it was even better than I imagined… My Mayones Setius GTM 7 Black is simply the best 7-string I have ever seen or heard! It sounds, plays and looks amazing!!!

The next day I took it to the studio and the producer was also blown away by the looks and especially the sound of the Mayo. That deep, heavy, thick yet tight sound really got us motivated during recordings! Beautiful things have originated from this…

Just a few weeks later Stephan decides to order another Mayones guitar driven by some irresistable desire... But let him get it off his chest...

I am a Mayones addict! I am a Mayones addict! When acknowledging an addiction you’re half way from being cured! The thing I that I don’t want to be cured! I just want more Mayo!

After my first Mayones guitar, a Mayones Setius GTM 7 string, I soon ordered my second Mayo. This time a totally customized 6 string with a floating bridge! I ordered it with customized moon-phase inlays (best idea I ever had), ebony fingerboard, Fernandes Susainer at neck position and a D-sonic pick-up at bridge position. To top things of the guitar is totally monolith black with a white binding.

When I first opened the case I saw a perfectly crafted piece of art!! No flaws! No imperfections! I have no idea how they do it but the craftsmen at the Mayones factory are brilliant! Not only does the guitar look perfect, it also plays perfect! The feel of the instrument is so good, it makes me play better! Nice action, fast neck… The only constriction this guitar has is me! ;-)

The sound ladies and gentlemen; simply astonishing!!! Warm and tight! Just how I like it. I can make it sing when I want to, squeal when I want to and if I want to play with dynamics… no problem. It’s the total package!

Am I that positive that you don’t believe me? I can hardly believe it myself. I finally found the guitars I’ve been looking for all my life!
