Creek Jil Y. (AUT)

I was looking for a very lively and dynamic 6 string guitar I needed especially for the virtuose parts of the life shows for my Frank Zappa coverband S.W.N.B. I found that the 7 string I had used so far was not the best choice for all the pieces.

Also, the guitar had to be suitable for many different musical styles, as when playing Frank Zappa's music, I quickly have to switch between blues, raggae, clean melody, metal, comping with clean chords. And I wanted a guitar where I could also have some individual extra specials. My Mayones Setius PRO custom model is exactly the one that provides all those features!

It has a Mahogany body with Maple top and Rosewood fingerboard. The neck is D-shaped with medium jumbo frets, what makes playing fast stuff easier especially legato lines and wide pentatonics stretches that I play a lot. As designed for playing viruose rock solos, it has Schaller Floyd Rose tremolo with fine tuners and a locking nut to keep the strings in tune.

Another custom feature are the special position marks: the dots have been replaced by the eights-note break signs which are my trademark – because the Y. in Jil Y. Creek is really an eights-note break sign! And the beautiful pearl violet is a custom colour that I found best suitable for my personality.

The guitar is equipped with the new Seymour Duncan pickups, the P-Rails. This is a full size humbucker that splits to a full size vintage P-90 single coil. It delivers two sounds of one pickup: the full rich sound of a humbucker and the fat clear tone of a P-90 single coil. With a 3-way mini switch, the pickup also delivers a third, very authentic stratocaster sound.

On this guitar, the P-Rails are in neck and bridge positions, both with a 3-way mini switch and a major 3-way switch for combinations, giving 15 different possibilities of sounds!

Summing up, it's a high class manufactured, easy to play on and very personal guitar, versatile in use and with great tone.
