Herr Morbid
Herr Morbid / FORGOTTEN TOMB (IT)The last year welcomed several new bands in Mayones artists roster. One of them is Herr Morbid - the leader of the legend of the underground black metal scene, Italian band FORGOTTEN TOMB . "Darkness never sounded better with my new Mayones guitar!"
The band FORGOTTEN TOMB was born in March 1999 from the will of Herr Morbid and another mysterious musician known as Torment. The first, self-produced MCD "Obscura Arcana Mortis" was released in June 2000 and contained obscure, occult and aggressive Black Metal with depressive shades.
In the meantime Herr Morbid decided to move towards a more melancholic, depressive and slow-paced Doom/Black Metal approach. The result was the first full-length album "Songs To Leave" published in 2002 by the Swedish label Selbstmord Services. The album received enthusiastic reactions by both critics and Black/Doom Metal fans worldwide, selling several thousand copies and establishing FORGOTTEN TOMB as one of the most promising bands in the Extreme Metal field.
In the beginning of 2003 the band entered the famous Abyss Studios in Sweden to record the second LP titled "Springtime Depression". The album redefined the sound of FORGOTTEN TOMB and is now considered by many the milestone of the band and was hailed by fans worldwide and all the reviews on Metal magazines/webzines were totally enthusiastic, making "Springtime Depression" a cult-album instantly.
Meanwhile, Herr Morbid collected the full line-up for the live performance and in the fall of 2003 Forgotten Tomb played several successful gigs all around Europe. As a result of a thriving cooperation between the musicians, the third album called “Love’s Burial Ground” is released at the beginning of 2004 followed by tours in several European countries.
After a short break spent on side-project work, the band signs a deal with famous Avantgarde Music label to release the new material. The 4th long-play “ Negative Megalomania” is published in January 2007 and shows significant evolution of the band style, creating a bleak, perverse and apocalyptic vision of life and future. As the band itself said, this album opened up a new beginning for FORGOTTEN TOMB and the future can only look brighter for this sensational Italian act.
After the release of the latest masterpiece "Negative Megalomania", the first months of 2007 saw the re-release of the band's old demotape through the italian label Eerie Art Records, due to the massive request of fans for it. The CD, named "Obscura Arcana Mortis: The Demo Years", included the remastered original Demo + 2 live bonus-tracks recorded in 2004. It was limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies and it featured new graphics and never-seen-before pictures.
In the meantime, the band played a 14-gigs tour around Europe to support the album, and started working on the 5th full-lenght studio-album, to be recorded and released during 2008. In the words of leader Herr Morbid, January 2008: "The new album will most probably be self-titled since it marks an important personal achievement in the history of the band. The new songs still show the classic FT trademark, but this time we really crashed beyond the boundaries of this genre and decided to take a risk. It's simply what we feel right for ourselves. We don't want to stick to the same old sound for an eternity, like many other similar bands do, we like to evolve and we don't care about the consequences. 'Negative Megalomania' was quite an innovative album for us, but this new one will definitely be a turning point for the band. The melancholy and coldness are still there, but we got shorter songs and a very varied songwriting this time, including many new elements and a very refreshing sound."
In the late 2007 Herr Morbid inked an endorsement deal with our company and ordered customized Setius GTM guitar. The instrument was delivered with pitch black top, one active EMG 81 pickup, Sperzel locking tuners and decorated with musician's nickname at the 12th fretpole and engraved "NEGATIVITY" inscription in the truss rod cover. Below you may find few words from Herr Morbid describing his new weapon...
"The look is absolutely beautiful and elegant, and the custom writings on 12th fret and on truss-rod are very well-done and meaningful for me. Everyone was really impressed when they saw my new baby. The sound is as thick and crushing as I was expecting it to be and even beyond my expectations! I got Active-EMG pickups on all my previous guitars too, but they never sounded as good as on this Mayones!! The first thing I noticed while playing it is the incredible sustain, never played a guitar with such a lengthy sustain before! The neck and fretboard are very comfortable, as well as the the body of the guitar - I practiced with the band on the same day when I got the guitar and it felt like if I always played it! It also kept a perfect tuning for all the rehearsal-time. A big "Thank You" to Mayones for the EXCELLENT work, I'm proud of being among the endorsers of these guitars! Darkness never sounded better, with my new Mayones custom-guitar!"
