Cardamon is a female-fronted rock/metal band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. A melancholic look on contemporary life and the everyday struggles we all face, is expressed through music which reflects these sentiments. To the members, Cardamon is about passion and professionalism. Raging guitars quieten down to emotional interludes, and vice versa. Music that, for several reasons, stays in your head, without making any concessions to both musicality and originality.
For lack of better comparison, many reviews point to bands as The Gathering, Katatonia and a Perfect Circle. As the name suggests, Cardamon is a young yet seasoned band, with its members having performed on stages across the globe, in various bands. This experience can clearly be seen on stage in their energetic live-show.
Having a world-wide release of their debut album through the UK label Femme Metal Records, Cardamon is now performing more and more across the borders of their Dutch homegrounds. The album has been very well received and scored over 80/100 in each and every magazine and webzine that reviewed it.
Kevin uses a customized Regius 6 model, with Trans Graphite finish, Seymour Duncan P Rails pickups connected to two mini switches for versatile sound possibilities and his personal custom inlays in the Ebony fingerboard.
Feeling like Indiana Jones who is opening a vault that hasn´t been opened in thousands of years, I gazed at the guitarcase in front of me. I can´t remember if the case actually had lights installed in it, but when I opened it, it felt like an unholy black glow came from inside I have never experienced before.This guitar exceeds every wish I had for it. Every single detail I requested had been hand-built far beyond perfection. Two Seymour Duncan P-Rails, swamp ash in trans-graphite gloss finish. If you gaze too long into the guitar, it also gazes into you... And screams to be played.The Fretboard, black as night except for the two custom inlays, where you can see clearly the passion these guys have for perfection in detail. On the 7th fret, my name with such fine detail, I didn´t even deem it possible. And on the 12th an equally beautiful symbol that means very much to me.
The versatility of this instrument is absolutely mind-boggling, I have owned a great deal of guitars, many of which were high-end products. Being a studio-owner, and always working on several projects in different styles, I never thought one instrument could do it all. But my Regius does every sound I need so well, I need to apologize to my other instruments for ignoring them.Being part of the Mayones family, has been like coming home. The service never feels like service, it´s a passion we all share, and when I look too deeply into my guitar, I realize I never want to leave here again.
